{{a moment in words}}

Outside my window…
A gray, snowy day

I am thankful for…
Long weekends with a Tuesday day-off

From the kitchen…
Maple and brown sugar oatmeal with apple chunks and golden raisins

I am wearing…
Yoga pants, tee shirt and Old Navy sweat shirt

I am going…
To watch Netflix movies all day and knit

I am hoping…
That I can do this very thing for the next two days

One of my favorite things…
Little notes left in unexpected places

A few plans for the upcoming week…
It is my FIL’s 70th birthday this week, so we are busting him out of the home and partying him up

It’s A New Day...

IMG_4980

It’s all boxed up and put away for another year.

No more soft glow of Christmas lights in every room. No more dangling snowflakes or smell of pine.

It takes me days of careful placing to get that holiday magic and only one day to dismantle it.

We had a nice Christmas, but I never did find that feeling I usually get. It just alluded me somehow.

Today is 1/1/11 and it is a new start. I want this year to be different, not just a replay of the same things I did last year. It’s time to get healthier and more productive. Less computer, iPod, cell phone and camera time and more real life.

I hope your new day is filled with fun, love and learning!

Outside my window…
A dark, wet sky.

I am thankful for…
Ben & Jerry’s Carrot Cake Ice Cream.

From the kitchen…
Baked rigatoni with fresh mozzarella.

I am wearing…
Jeans and a Nike tee shirt.

I am going…
To watch some football, do some face book and go to bed.

I am hoping…
That we have enough money for Christmas.

One of my favorite things…
The first sip of a cold glass of wine.

A few plans for the upcoming week…
Our daughters play is this weekend. she has been practicing for months and we are so excited to see her up on stage.

Blissful

I came home today and decided the chickens need a little treat, so I let everybody out to wander.

They tend to wander...away...so I pulled up an adirondack chair and relaxed.

What a beautiful spot. The field of soy beans is emerald green. The vegetables in the garden are lush. The chickens are scratching and clucking in obvious contentment.

What started out as a special treat for the hens has turned into the best part of my day.
