snow/sick day
All day yesterday every TV station was talking about the storm of the century that was heading straight for us, snowmageddon was the word they used.
In the stupid weathermen’s defense, we have had a lot of snow this year. It has been a winter more like the kind we use to have when I was a kid. Snow has fallen almost everyday, even if it was just a little.
But today all hell was supposed to break loose. They had big maps showing the dangerous storms path. They started closing things last night before anything even started. My husband got the generator out, filled the oil lamps and went to the store for milk and bread. We were ready!
It was like Christmas Eve, no one could even sleep we were so excited for the storm. We woke up to no more snow than we have had all winter...kind of a let down.
But they had already closed everything, so a snow day it is! I am still super sick so I’ll take it.
I’m sending the kid out to shovel...

Snow Day
As I sit her contemplating the first snow day of the season, roughly seven days before the first day of winter, I feel like it must have been divine intervention that brought this delicious christstollen to me just when I would need it most.
So I will make myself another pot of coffee, turn up the carols and thank my lucky stars for such kind and thoughtful patrons.
